Family Medicine Residency - Memphis

At Baptist Family Medicine Residency, we train well-rounded physician leaders who are ready to serve patients of all ages, in both rural and urban settings, and who are prepared to face the challenges of modern primary care.

Our program accepts 6 residents per year in a 3 year program. We strive to equip residents with the skills needed to practice medicine in all environments. Graduates from our program have chosen careers all over the world in Ambulatory Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Sports Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Underserved and Missional Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Care, Academic Medicine, and Hospital Administration.

Our primary site, Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis is a large tertiary academic center located in Memphis, TN. At this site residents will experience a rigorous academic environment, dedicated to creating outstanding physicians who have a commitment to providing care for patients and families from all walks of life. We recognize our responsibility to bring expertise, compassion, and a deep understanding of social determinants of health to engage patients and ensure well-being for the underserved in our community.

Residents will also train at Baptist Women’s and Children’s Hospital learning directly from family medicine physicians and obstetrical and pediatric specialists to prepare for real-life clinical practice.

Our residents have opportunities to train at a variety of outlying community hospitals including the BMH Desoto, standalone ER access at BMH-Arlington, and small rural hospitals at BMH-Union City and BMH-Carroll County. Residents will rotate with community physicians at Baptist Medical Group, at Stern Cardiovascular Center, Memphis Lung Foundation, Campbell Clinic, Ortho South, River City Pediatrics, and others.
